ELASTIC RESPONSE ANALYSIS OF LARGE FLOATING STRUCTURES BY MODAL SYNTHESIS METHOD

Experiments and modal synthesis analysis were used to examine the motions of two floating structures joined with leaf spring, considering the effects of elastic deformation of these structures. Modal synthesis analysis is used because of the advantages of reducing degrees of freedom. Therefore, responses can be calculated earlier using modal synthesis analysis as in this study the object has large degrees of freedom. Another important advantage is that rigid motions and elastic vibrations can be expressed in parallel.
