ON DETERMINATION OF DESIGN PARAMETERS OF OPTIMUM TRAWLER FOR GOING TO MULTIPLE FISHING GROUNDS

Using the Pattern Search Method, the Simplex Method and the Powell Method, the optimum principal particulars of a newly designed trawler is studied, taking into consideration the resources of fishing grounds, fish prices, fuel consumption etc. The optimum principal particulars are first determined for the trawler operating in each fishing ground respectively, using the direct Search Method in combination with the Expound Method. Within the range of maximum and minimum power of the main engines for these trawlers operating in each fishing ground, the economic effectiveness is stochastically calculated by the Monte Carlo Method and the optimum design of a trawler is attained.
