SAGA/AKER VENTURE IN THREE-LEGGED TLP DESIGN
A novel tension leg platform (TLP) design based on a three- sided configuration has been developed which is said to offer major savings when compared to traditional rectangular TLPs. In addition to the superior stability, the removal of one column eliminates the need for costly equipment to adjust the tethers, since the platform will be inherently static. This rectangular solution also permits major simplifications in procedures and equipment for installing both tethers and platform on the field, which in turn, will yield major savings.
