CONTAINERS: HOW ABOUT THE NEW GENERATION

The search for a second generation of containers for worldwide operations and its related standardisation has been ended after several years. The file on the project has now been closed. The background is that not only did the European Union not want to accept 49 foot long containers, but also because 2.591 width transport units (TUs) were not suitable for European conditions. However Europe's coastal shipping and inland waterways traffic, which is capable of considerable expansion, urgently requires TUs which are suitable for pallets.
