SEA TRIALS FOR EURODYN GAS TURBINE
The Eurodyn gas turbine has been installed in a 37 m high- speed catamaran which will act primarily as a floating test bed for the gas turbine. A full-size Eurodyn prototype has been running on a test bed in France since October 1992. Results to date indicate that these test engines have achieved efficiencies of 32.8% at an output of 2.6 MW. The gas turbine is designed to provide some 9000 hours of operation between overhauls, effectively giving a typical fast ferry application something like three years of operation.
