WARSHIP DESIGN ON THE DESKTOP COMPUTER

GODDESS is a computer aided design and analysis system used since 1978 by all major projects in the Sea Systems Controllerate and Naval Support Command of the UK Ministry of Defence to assist the design, procurement and through life support of ships and submarines. The paper relates the experience gained in converting the software for workstations and assesses the prospects for future development and use.
