DEVELOPMENT OF THE ADAPTABLE USER-ORIENTED CONCEPTUAL SHIP DESIGN SYSTEM

An adaptable and flexible user-oriented conceptual design system was developed by re-arranging functions of a tightly coupled conceptual design system. The system developed consists of control module, design module, database and graphical user interface. The design module contains a power prediction and engine selection module with an engine database, a weight estimation module, a longitudinal compartment division module, a hull form variation module, a volume calculation module, a freeboard calculation module etc. Each design module of the system can be executed independently and can also be executed in an integrated environment with the aid of the control module.
