THE EFFECT OF ALCOHOL AND PLACEBO ON REACTION TIME AND DISTANCE JUDGMENT

Five doses of alcohol or placebo were given to 20 Ss (10 received alcohol, 10 received placebo) performing reaction time (RT) and distance judgment (DJ) tasks. The alcohol and placebo groups both showed impairment of RT by trials. DJ was only affected in the alcohol group. It was then suggested that alcohol may lead to a misperception of when to react rather than an actual physical impairment of reaction time. /Author/ and other strategies.
