STATE-OF-THE-ART AND PERSPECTIVES OF DEVELOPMENT OF EKRANOPLANES IN RUSSIA

The paper gives an outline of the evolution of ekranoplanes in Russia, describes some of the existing craft of this type, and discusses perspectives of further development of Russian ekranoplanes in commercial spheres. Comparative discussion is presented of different aerodynamic configurations with particular emphasis on aerodynamic schemes of advanced ekranoplanes. Some important problems are listed which are related to the development of ekranoplanes of the second generation.
