REINFORCED EARTH A NEW ALTERNATIVE FOR EARTH-RETENTION STRUCTURES

Using a variety of projects as examples, the authors demonstrate the versatility of the patented Reinforced Earth TM process for the construction of retaining walls and other structures for both highway and nonhighway applications. For specific problem-solution-cost data. they draw heavily from actual experience and from "Reinforced Earth Construction," the final report of the Federal Highway Administration's Region 15 Demonstration Project No. 18. The authors conclude that Reinforced Earth, developed in France and introduced in the United States several years ago, has now demonstrated in a wide variety of applications superior technical advantages and substantial cost savings over other construction systems. ;ASCE;
