A STUDY OF THE NONLINEAR WAVE RESISTANCE OF A TWO-DIMENSIONAL SOURCE GENERATED BODY
The document is concerned with the wave resistance of bodies moving beneath or at a free water surface. The second order wave resistance of a thin symmetrical two-dimensional body or source is derived in a closed analytical form. The result is applied to an isolated source representing a semi-infinite blunt body, an open body with a leading edge of a fine shape, and a closed body generated by a source and a sink. The relevance of the results to ship wave resistance is discussed in qualitative terms.
