COASTAL ZONE MANAGEMENT: FOCUS ON NEW ENGLAND; AN ANNOTATED SELECTED BIBLIOGRAPHY

Each of the New England states is creating plans for managing the various uses of its coastal zone, in accordance with the federal Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972. To aid state governments, interest groups, regional organizations, and citizens in gathering the data necessary for this planning process, a bibliography, with annotated selections, presents the major sources for pertinent information on coastal zone management in the region. Entries and their abstracts are grouped within several topics: background; coastal ecosystems; physical processes of the coast; open spaces for public recreational uses; supply and demand of coastal resources; opportunities for beneficial use; actual and potential adverse effects of human intervention on natural systems; planning and management systems for the coastal zone. The bibliography includes a list of coastal zone journals and newsletters and a subject index.
