EXPERIENCE OF SPEED LIMITS IN GREAT BRITAIN

This report briefly outlines the British experience of the following aspects of speed restrictions: (1) severity and nature of accidents on roads with different limits, (2) effects of speed differentials amongst drivers, (3) trials of speed limits imposed on specific lengths of road and speed limits applied nation wide, (4) enforcement levels, and (5) recent emergency limits imposed as a result of the fuel shortages.
