HIGH CURRENT DENSITY SUBMERGED ARC WELDING WITH TWIN ELECTRODES

It is shown that the twin electrode high current density submerged arc system is superior to conventional single arc systems owing to its higher deposition rates, higher travel speeds, lower heat inputs, and lower power consumption per pound of weld metal. In addition, this system can nearly match in many areas the speed and deposition rate of tandem arc installations with only about one-half the capital equipment cost.
