POST PIPER ALPHA SURVIVAL TRAINING
Piper Alpha brought scenes which will live with all of us for many years to come. With regard to survival training, there is always room for improvement; in the aftermath of an incident of the magnitude of Piper Alpha, investigations and advice into improving and upgrading training is invaluable. The RGIT Survival Centre Ltd has been, and currently is, involved in continuation training offshore. This work emphasises and reinforces the basic training conducted onshore. Disasters such as Piper Alpha, Ocean Odyssey and the Brent Spar helicopter crash have had no great thought to systems of abandonment of offshore installations.
