AERODYNAMIC RESPONSE OF HIGH-SPEED MONOHULLS
This report deals with the aerodynamic forces acting on high-speed monohulls. The results presented are based upon wind tunnel measurements, and they are intended to serve as guidelines when the need arises for estimating the aerodynamic forces acting on such hulls. Also presented is a slightly modified performance prediction method originally formulated by Savitsky, that enables the aerodynamic effects to be included in a simple manner. It is shown that their presence has a strong impact on the predicted running trim and total resistance at high speeds.
