ROLL DAMPING DUE TO LIFT EFFECTS ON HIGH SPEED MONOHULLS
In this paper the characteristics of the roll behaviour of fast ships is discussed and illustrated. Attention is focused on the important lift contribution to the roll damping and the results of the roll damping prediction method of the MARIN computer program ROLLDAMP. Validation results are given for the Royal Netherlands Navy M-frigate (model tests and full scale trial results), for a 36 m fast patrol boat built by Singapore Shipbuilding & Engineering (model tests) and for the parent hull form of the Fast Displacement Ship series (model tests), jointly sponsored by the Netherlands, United States and Australian Navies.
