NAVAL SHIPBUILDING IN AUSTRALIA
As we approach the end of the twentieth century, Australia is embarking upon a naval shipbuilding programme unequalled in cost and complexity by any previous programme. The paper reviews a number of past naval construction programmes and seeks to identify those factors which have had a major influence on their outcome. The lesson learnt from past experience is presented as background to the ambitious workload in coming years.
