BRIDGE TEMPERATURES ESTIMATED FROM THE SHADE TEMPERATURE
This report presents a method of using various functions of the shade temperature to estimate the daily minimum effective temperature of concrete, composite or steel bridges. Using this minimum temperature as a datum it has been shown how the effective bridge temperature at any time of the day can be estimated. In the case of the composite and steel bridges there are limitations on the accuracy which can be achieved and further data are required to improve the method. Previous correlations of shade temperature with effective bridge temperature are mentioned, and their limitations discussed. /Author/
