ON THE CALCULATION OF CONSISTENT STRESS DISTRIBUTIONS IN FINITE ELEMENT APPROXIMATIONS
The theory of conjugate approximations is used to obtain persistent approximations of stress fields in finite element approximations based on displacement and assumptions. These consistent stresses are continuous across interelement boundaries and involve less mean error than those computed by the conventional approach. (Author)
