THE INFLUENCE OF THICKNESS ON FATIGUE OF WELDED JOINTS - 10 YEARS ON (A REVIEW OF BRITISH WORK)

In the ten years or so since the influence of thickness on the fatigue strength of welded joints was first predicted by fracture mechanics and then confirmed experimentally, a considerable amount of work has been carried out on the subject. The paper attempts to summarise the work done in Britain. The form of some possible new thickness correction rules is proposed.
