ACCIDENT DATABASE ENHANCES RISK DRILLING, PRODUCTION ASSESSMENT
A number of interesting trends have been revealed as a result of manipulation of a database of 850 offshore accidents recently completed by the Institute Francais du Petrole. The database covers accidents on all types of fixed and mobile drilling, production or accommodation units that resulted in an unplanned work stoppage of at least 24 hours. The 24-hour criteria allows certain types of accidents to be excluded.
