REGULATION EXCERPTS AND SKETCH BOOK
The manual is designed to aid preparation for up-grading examinations. The Regulations excerpted are the more pertinent and quoted parts. U.S. Coast Guard Rules and Regulations should be consulted for full details. Sketches and drawing are intended to provide classroom lecture references. They also will serve as practice guides for machine sketching and basic mechanical drafting. The Regulations have been amended and altered to some degree by the adoption of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) codes in the newer publications of Marine Engineering Regulations Sub-Chapter F (CG 115). However, existing examination (written-not multiple choice) answers will comply with these regulations. The first 68 pages cover conversion factors; USCG regulation problems; Rules and regulations for passenger, cargo and miscellaneous vessels; Marine engineering regulations and material specifications. The balance of the manual consists of sketches, drawings and illustrations of various machinery components, sub-systems and safety devices.
