WAVE-MAKING RESISTANCE OF A SURFACE EFFECT SHIP

A theoretical procedure is given to calculate the wave resistance in a surface effect ship, assuming that the inner pressure distribution of the cushion is known. Using this procedure and a series of pressure distribution curves, as a function of the geometrical parameters of the cushion, a systematic computation is performed for the nondimensional wave resistance varying those parameters. Results are presented by means of families of curves and the influence of each geometrical parameter on the wave resistance is analysed.
