CCMS/NATO URBAN GOODS MOVEMENT PROJECT

This project forms the subject of this final report which was prepared jointly by representatives of the USA, UK and France. Six topics were studied and are reported on under these headings: traffic problems (FR); technical problems (FR); freight terminals (US); regulation of commercial use, and planning (UK); demonstration of new projects (US); coordination of study methods (UK). Recommendations are given for each topic, and conclusions reached are stated as:- (1) it would be useful to examine the practice of research workers in different countries with regard to classification of commodities to see if common categorisation could be arrived at. (2) a similar exercise on banding of dimensions will be complicated by differences in legal barriers. It could be valuable to list and compare various legal limits in different countries, and see if any common system could be recommended. /TRRL/
