APPLYING LYAPUNOV METHODS TO INVESTIGATE ROLL STABILITY

This paper describes how a roll bound may be obtained for any ship without recourse to iterative techniques. It concludes that a large scale statistical analysis of ship motions will produce a realistic and usable stability criterion, based on Lyapunov theory.
