THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MOBILE PRODUCTION SYSTEM INCORPORATING A COMPLIANT PRODUCTION RISER

The overall aim of this project is to produce a marginal field development concept which offers significant cost savings when compared with existing systems but does not entail an unacceptable degree of technical risk. The project is divided into two phases, the first to define an overall field development concept or concepts and the second to develop the chosen concept<s> to the stage of outline design<s>. The technical aspects are considered in five distinct areas:-- 1. Subsea systems incorporating wellheads and subsea completions; 2. Production and export risers; 3. Platform design; 4. Topside Process and utilities equipment; and 5. Storage and export facilities. In the economic analysis three technically acceptable production systems have been selected for evaluation; 1. A jacket with a storage tanker. 2. A converted semisubmersible with a storage tanker. 3. A production/storage tanker. Comparison is made in terms of real rate of return <RROR> and nett present value.
