CASE HISTORIES OF STRUCTURAL DAMAGES, LESSONS LEARNED

The last decade has been a great challenge to the oil industry and experiences gained from the development offshore in the North Sea and many other areas of the world are very important to consider with the still greater challenges of deep and hostile waters lying ahead. This experience shows that fixed offshore platforms in combination with subsea pipelines and risers are well proven and reliable structural systems to support production and transportation of hydrocarbons. A number of examples illustrate when, how and why things go wrong and what can be done to reduce such occurrences. <CMO>.
