THE BROOKE MARINE 53.5-METRE FAST STRIKE CRAFT

Brief information is given on the BM 535, a fast strike craft developed from the Brooke Marine range of fast patrol craft and introduced in 1983. Three versions are offered: <1> A heavily-armed attack/strike craft; <2> An offshore patrol craft for policing and surveillance; and <3> An anti-sub marine craft. The article, which lists a weapons fit for each of these versions, includes general- arrangement drawings of the attack version, whose main particulars are: length 53.5m o.a., 48.5m w.l.; moulded breadth 9m; mean draught 2.2m; displacement 325/350 tonnes. The three versions each have three Paxman Valenta 18CM engines; speed is 38 knots max., 33 knots continuous, and the range is 1800 miles at 15 knots. A suggested accommodation arrangement provides for 6 officers, 6 senior ratings, and 24 junior ratings.
