The article discusses the different type of heat exchangers available for the recovery of energy from exhaust gases and the general rules applied in selection of the optimum type for each application. The practical uses for the recovered energy and some particular installations are also discussed. The application of combinations of different types of energy recovery is proposed as a means of making products with a minimum of usage.
