THE STATIC CONTRIBUTION OF HIGHER MODES IN THE DYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF OFFSHORE STRUCTURES

This paper presents an evaluation of a technique derived to make more efficient the application of the modal superposition method for dynamic analysis, particularly for fixed offshore structures. In the first part, the formulation is derived. Then two different sample problems are solved to compare the performance of the numerical results with those of other methods. Finally, based upon the analysis of the results, several recommendations are made.
