REGARDING THE BUCKLING OF PIPELINES SUBJECT TO AXIAL LOADING

This paper provides the information needed to predict the behaviour of submarine pipelines subjected to axial loading, for example by a uniform temperature rise. It is, however, suggested that the modelling assumptions should be improved if the buckling and large-deflection behaviour is to be fully understood, and that non-linear modelling might offer a higher degree of consistency in this type of work.
