ACOUSTIC POWER DISSIPATION ON RADIATION THROUGH DUCT TERMINATIONS: EXPERIMENTS

The acoustic transmission characteristics of ducts, nozzles, orifices, and perforated plates have been studied experimentally using an acoustic impulse technique. A low frequency acoustic power loss was observed for all configurations tested; this is accounted for by the conversion of sound energy into vortical energy.
