HYDRODYNAMIC LOADS ON VERTICAL BODIES OF REVOLUTION

This paper describes a general method for estimating hydrodynamic loads on fixed or floating vertical bodies of revolution. A wave diffraction approach is employed to evaluate generalised wave forces, and hydrodynamic added mass and damping terms associated with response of the body in its modes of free vibration in vacuo. These may be rigid body or distortion modes.
