EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF A REDUCED SIZE OFFSHORE STRUCTURE

The behaviour of a truss structure with straight cylindrical members, similar to those used in some offshore platforms, was studied experimentally. The dynamic characteristics of the system and the behaviour and the magnitude of the response are discussed under the main headings of: <1> Physical model; <2> Site and channel; <3> Instrumentation; <4> Mathematical model; <5> Forced vibration; <6> Computer analysis; <7> Damping; and <8> Response to wave action.
