TYPES AND CHARACTERISTICS OF FLUX CORED WIRES

Fluxed cored wires for the welding of steels have been available for about 25 years. In the USA, Japan and the USSR they have captured a significant share of the automatic and semi-automatic market. It is claimed that flux cored wire arc welding offers the opportunity of achieving significant reductions in welding costs by utilising the high deposition rates of the process and the high deposition efficiencies of the flux cord electrodes. This paper deals specifically with flux cored wire arc welding.
