WAVE POWER FOR SHIP PROPULSION (KYSTFANGST)

The Wave Control Co. <of Norway> is developing a system for extracting propulsion power for a ship or boat from the waves that it encounters. In tests, a 7.5m hull reached six knots under wave power. It is also claimed that a powered version could be constr- ucted and would use 30% less fuel than screw propulsion. Potential applications range from manually-powered craft to large vessels.
