THE SEVERITY OF INJURY SUSTAINED BY A CHILD PEDESTRIAN, WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO VEHICLE DESIGN

Based on an analysis of British accident statistics, this paper investigates some of the factors which affect the severity of injury sustained by a child pedestrian when struck by a motor vehicle. Particular attention is paid to the design of the vehicle, and differences are found in the proportions severely injured between different types of vehicles and between different types of cars. Related work is discussed in some depth. /TRRL/
