The so-called "microtanker" Coracine recently completed by the Norwegian shipbuilders Skaalurens Skibsbyggeri A/S is a 495-grt coastal tanker for the carriage of chemicals and oil. The ship is of interest because of its size which represents a new generation of coastal tankers for service in the North Sea area. Principal particulars are:- Length 65.98m o.a., 62.7m b.p.; Breadth 11m; Draught 4.10m; Capacity 1189/1478.6 cu m; Tanks 12 cragotanks, including 2 sloptanks; main engine Deutz 6-cylinder SBV GM 628, 1540 hp at 1000 rpm.; speed 11 knots.
