HIGHLY MANOEUVRABLE, ECONOMICAL SHUTTLE TANKER MAKES LOADING SAFER

Recently completed by the Uddevallavarvet yard in Sweden, Polyviking is a 130,700 dwt tank vessel of twin-skeg stern design and novel bow loading and mooring arrangements. Built to the requirements of the Norwegian national oil company Statoil, the ship will be used for transporting oil from the Statfjord field in the North Sea. Principal particulars are:- Length o.a. 264.49m; Breadth <mld> 48m; Depth <mld> 21.5m; Draught 15.02m; capacity of cargo tanks 147,852 cu m; tonnage 73,935 <gross>, 39,221 <nett>. Propulsion is by two supercharged six- cylinder B&W 6L55GUCA diesels each developing 6,600 kW at 155 rpm.
