Although the subject of tug-ship interaction has been dealt with in previous Tug Conventions, the interaction of the tug screw wash and the ship and its effect on pull of a tug has received comparatively little attention. In this paper results from some model experiments are presented to illustrate the losses <and gains>, in terms of bollard pull, which can result from the effects of tug wash. The discussion is confined to the zero-speed, bollard pull condition in water restricted in both width and depth.
