NEXT GENERATION OF ENERGY CARRIERS

This paper presents a summary of the various changes in the basic requirements of the energy trades and in the design environment that will result in changes in the design of the next generation of energy carriers. It is suggested that changes in the trading patterns of crude and oil products will result in requirements for a greater mix in the sizes of new oil tankers, and for an increase in the size of product carriers.
