PRIORITY OF SHIP DESIGN OPTIMIZATION

Overall optimisation of ship design from the transport system viewpoint has three elements: optimisation of the design request, of the ship design, and of the exploitation parameters. Partial optimisation of ship design and exploitation has been achieved, and the next step is now systematic overall optimisation. The Authors, of Zagreb University, discuss this problem, together with the merit criteria concerned, and propose a calculation method for defining the correct priority of optimisation in all three elements and thus improving ship optimisation procedure.
