MODEL INVESTIGATIONS OF ICE FORCES ON CYLINDRICAL STRUCTURES

Model investigations of ice forces on cylindrical structures were carried out using low salinity model ice. The effective ice pressure decreased with increasing pile diameter and there was a trend of increasing effective ice pressure with increasing velocity. The results of this test series compared favourably with analytical and experimental results in the literature.
