CATHODIC PROTECTION FOR FIXED OFFSHORE STRUCTURES -- THE OVERALL DESIGN PROBLEM

This is a summary of the paper presented at the Seminar on Cathodic Protection for Offshore Structures, 11th March, 1982. It sets out some practical guidelines for the development of cathodic protection system <CPS> designs for offshore structures. Emphasis is placed on the fact that parameters quoted for use in CPS designs are empirical values based upon relatively limited data. Practical CP engineers should therefore confirm their proposed design data with any relevant Approval Authority according to the suggested procedure, before proceeding to a final commitment to fabrication.
