FORCED OSCILLATION TESTS AND MOTION MEASUREMENTS WITH A SMALL WATERPLANE AREA TWIN HULL SHIP

This report is in microfiche form. An extensive series of SWATH model tests have been performed with a view to validating the results of computer programs that have been developed for calculating the motions of a SWATH in regular waves. The experiments firstly took the form of a forced oscillation test in the four principal modes of motion of a rigid SWATH model to determine the hydrodynamic coefficients, and secondly the determination of the heave and pitch response of a SWATH to both head and following waves.
