This paper outlines the operational requirements and the hydrofoil's capability to fulfil various tasks. Samples of hydrofoil technology applications for surveillance and support service are shown and information is given on the M-600, the latest generation of surface- piercing hydrofoils tailored for offshore operation. The hydrofoil cost-efficiency related to the envisaged missions is also considered.
