THE EFFECT OF THE ANTI-VIBRATION CAVE ON REDUCING SHIP VIBRATION

Vibration of the stern excited by the propeller is a thorny question for ship designers and owners. Based on the active vibration isolation principle and passing through structural model tests and ship model resistance tests, the possibility of reducing stern vibration by use of the anti-vibration cave for high powered ships is demonstrated. Anti-vibration caves were fitted in two craft and the experimental results obtained before and after fitting showed that they are satisfactory.
