CONTROL OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL IN NORTH CAROLINA TRANSPORTATION ACCIDENTS

The objectives of the project were to predict the requirements for, and to determine availability of, appropriate resources (manpower, equipment, special expertise, and medical treatment facilities) to cope with transportation accidents in North Carolina which involved radioactive materials. This needs and resource analysis included an evaluation of probable transportation routes and location of resources as a function of these routes. Matrices and maps were used to pictorially display resources distribution and to form a basis for estimating current availability and unmet need as a function of geographic location and accident severity. /HRIS/
