A description is given of the model developed to assess the economic and environmental impact of the future growth of Schiphol Airport and the influence of policy decisions. Scenarios were forecast for the years 2003 and 2015 reflecting a) balanced growth worldwide, b) global shift (high growth in the Asian-Pacific region), and c) European renaissance (high growth in European economies). These scenarios were linked with airline policies of a) global liberalisation, b) business-as-usual, and c) European liberalisation respectively. Details are given of the model which has two demand modules, two supply modules and one economic impact module. Some of the factors considered include night bans, quotas and levies.
